Embarking on the journey of starting an education blog opens up a world of possibilities to share knowledge, insights, and experiences. All of which I have gained tremendous amounts of since I began my journey in education over 15 years ago.

I am deeply passionate about elementary education, particularly in the realm of teaching mathematics to students, especially those facing challenges. It seems quite fitting that I have developed a love for this work, considering my own struggles with math during my early years of education.

  Geometry in the upper elementary grades is more complicated than just matching shapes and names. Students are now being asked to categorize polygons in different hierarchies and subsets along with classifying triangles by their sides and angles .  There are SO many vocabulary terms to memorize and then apply to open-ended questions. These five math centers are the perfect addition to your February math center rotations. They cover five different skills that are aligned to both the Texas standards and the Common Core standards. They will allow your students to practice place value, math facts through color-by-number, odd and even numbers, multiplication models and even a data and graphing interactive activity. Students will poll their classmates and then create a bar graph with their data and answer questions based off the results. I love whenever concepts can be spiraled throughout the year to allow students continual practice and exposure to both old and new concepts. And even better when it's themed!
